Purpose...
  
To provide funds each year for the Northshore Foundation Memorial Scholarship awarded annually to a graduate of a Northshore School District secondary schools who meets the criteria for the scholarship given in memory of Anna Cowles, Kathleen Sanford, Darren Lindal, Chris Lin and Dr. Walter E. Sundstrom.

Criteria...
  
The Northshore Foundation Memorial scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior from among Bothell, Inglemoor, Woodinville or the Secondary Academy for Success high schools.  The candidate must be accepted into an accredited college or university.  The candidate must be pursuing a degree in music, secondary-school teaching or special education. The scholarship is being offered in memory of Anna Ferguson Cowles, Chris Lin, Darren Lindal, Kathleen Sanford and Dr. Walter E. Sundstrom. The candidate must demonstrate that he/she is a good citizen, has obtained a high school grade point average of at least 3.0 and have provided service to school and/ or community.  Financial need will be a primary consideration.

Foundation Memorial Scholarship

Will be awarded in Memory of  Chris Lin, Darren Lindal, Anna Ferguson Cowles, Kathleen Sanford and Dr. Walter E. Sundstrom.

 

The memorial...
  
At age 16 and before graduating from Inglemoor High School, Darren Lindal obtained his single-engine, fixed-wing pilot's license from a flight school at Paine Field. At age 19, while alone in a seaplane, he died as a result of a mid-air collision with another float plane in 1986. The accident occurred over Lake Washington. Three perished in the second plane.

  The scholarship account was established by his family.

Candidates should submit the special application form prepared by the Foundation. Personal interviews  selection committee may be held.

Employed as a lineman at Kenmore Air Harbor and will use the scholarship to help pay for a program to obtain his flight instructor's license.
